Supernova

Supernova provides full screen reading in speech and Braille with integrated magnification that works on any of the supported Windows platforms.

JAWS (Job Access With Speech)

JAWS will read aloud information on the screen. It can be used with the Windows desktop, the Internet and standard software including word processors, spreadsheets and databases. JAWS can be customised to allow the selection of different voices and reading speeds.

ZoomText Magnifier

Zoomtext Magnifier can enlarge the screen image up to 16x without altering the appearance of the document. It can magnify all or specific sections of a document. Other options allow you to change the colour and font of both the text and background. It can also read information on the screen aloud.

Kurzweil 3000 (Local and Networked versions)

Used in conjunction with a standard scanner, Kurzweil 3000 displays, highlights and reads aloud scanned material on-screen. This software is particularly useful for those with dyslexia, sight and learning difficulties. It is intended to improve reading speed and comprehension.

Kurzweil 1000

Used in conjunction with a standard scanner, the Kurzweil 1000 system scans text from books and journals and then magnifies it or reads it back. Background and font colour can be modified to make the information more readable.

TextHelp Read and Write Gold

Read&Write 8 GOLD is a ‘one stop solution’ for reading and writing needs, bringing comprehensive literacy support for the User with literacy or learning difficulties. The software allows Users to work in using standard Windows applications such as Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer. It appears as a simple to use toolbar that “floats” on top of any open application. Assistance can then easily be called upon as the user works.

TextHELP Wordsmith

TextHELP Wordsmith provides read aloud and scanning functions, help with spelling, pronunciation and homonyns as well as a thesaurus. This software is intended to support those with dyslexia and learning difficulties by assisting in the development of literacy skills.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking

Dragon NaturallySpeaking is voice recognition software which allows those who are unable to use a standard keyboard to control a computer using natural language.

CmapTools

The IHMC CmapTools software empowers users to construct, navigate, share and criticize knowledge models represented as Concept Maps.

Inspiration 8

Inspiration is used to plan, research and complete projects successfully. With the integrated Diagram and Outline Views, users can create graphic organisers and expand topics into writing. This combination encourages learning in multiple modes. As a result, users gain and retain a better understanding of concepts and demonstrate knowledge, improving their performance.
